What does it mean to be College and Career Ready?

College and Career Ready means an individual has the academic preparation, cognitive preparation, technical skills, and employability skills to be successful in postsecondary education, in the attainment of an industry recognized certification or in the workforce, without the need for remediation.

Implementation of Kansas College & Career Ready Standards in Belle Plaine USD 357:

You may be aware that the Kansas State Board of Education has adopted new educational standards (referred to as the Kansas College & Career Ready Standards).  Belle Plaine USD 357 is well into the process of making the transition to teaching these standards.  They are designed to prepare each student for success beyond high school, creating college or career ready young adults. We want you to know that the increased rigor and higher-level thinking skills of the Standards are essential for learning and for mastery of essential content skills.  New tests to assess these standards are under development.

We encourage you to join us in focusing on the learning and the growth your children are making. We celebrate every student who is doing their best, learning more each day, and moving to the eventual goal of skills and knowledge for tomorrow’s success.
